Casey Smith Heads East for Double Header

AUSTIN, TX (April 10, 2007) -- Casey Smith has one race under his belt for the 2007 season.  This weekend, he will add two more as he heads east for a double header weekend at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida and Mobile International Speedway in Alabama.  He'll run the Blizzard Series Opener on Friday evening, April 13th before towing across the State Line to Mobile on Saturday night, April 14th for the Miller Lite Super Late Model Series opener.

At 21-years-old, Casey is starting his 18th racing season.  Casey has produced stellar results at the Florida half-mile oval ever since a Super Late Model win in his second visit at 14-years old and many impressive finishes in the Snowball Derby.

The Blizzard Series evolved by popular demand from drivers wanting some practice time on the track leading up to the prestigious Snowball Derby in December.

The Blizzard Series holds 5 races spread throughout the season and has attracted a very competitive field of drivers.  Smith makes the trip not only for the competition and the Derby practice, but there is also a chance to win yourself a provisional spot at the Snowball Derby, something that everyone would love to have come December.

“We are bringing the #99 car that I built for the Derby.  Regrettably we didn't make the field into last years Derby, so after Christmas I took the car to the track and did lots of testing, preparing for the 2007 season,” Casey said.

“We have a little bit of bad luck, but we had a really good run at South Alabama; we just had the clutch bolts break that led to a disappointing finish compared to what we would have had.”

While Casey hasn't had the best of luck out on the track in his Super Late Model recently, one thing that he has going for him heading into this weekend is this is just the kind of racing that he likes.  Casey plans on running all five of the Blizzard Series races which come on Friday nights, that are scheduled on the same weekends as the Saturday night Miller Lite Racing Series at Mobile International Speedway in Mobile, Alabama.
