Austin, TX 1/22/10- After a disappointing end to the 2009 season that left more to be desired for Casey Smith and his #99 Rapid Disposal Racing team, Casey Smith is ready to kickoff the 2010 season with the quest of visiting victory lane more than just once.

Smith will get that chance sooner rather than later starting out at the Lanier National Speedway as part of the second annual SpeedFest hosted by the track January 30th -31st. It will mark the first time Smith has seen the 3/8th mile facility since 2004 when Smith qualified second and finished third in an ASA National Tour event.

Smith who is looking to get the bitter taste of the Snowball Derby out of his mouth doesn’t usually run winter shows. However, 2010 will be an exception. After leading sixty-four laps and seeing a flat tire delegate his team to a 22nd place finish, Smith is ready to get the 2010 season underway.

“The 2009 season was a very disappointing year by our standards,” stated Smith. “We had some good runs, but we had so much bad luck with flat tires and getting caught up in someone else’s problems that we’re ready to get the taste out of our mouths. We haven’t run at Lanier in a long time. The last time we were there was in 2004 for an ASA race where we finished third. So we are cautiously optimistic that we can have a good weekend.”

Lanier National Speedway will be the start of Smith’s season. Smith will be competing in the 250 lap, $8,000 to win CRA Super Series super late model portion of the event. The race also features a $2,000 bonus to the leader at halfway and an invert of the top three to six competitors at halfway. Last year, Kyle Busch took home the hardware in the 250 lapper.

The 2010 season will also be different for Smith in the fact that he is looking to revisit facilities he once competed at just like Lanier. However, Smith will still compete for the Gulf Coast Championship at Pensacola and Mobile. He will also take part in the Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway on March 7th where Casey is a two time Viper Series Champion.

“I guess you could say we’re looking to broaden our horizons,” said Smith. “We haven’t completely finalized our plans yet, but we’re looking at going to different places like Lanier this weekend. We will still run at Opp (South Alabama Speedway) and for the Gulf Coast Championship, but we will have more variety in our schedule this year.”

Casey Smith and the Rapid Disposal team will have time to get their schedule finalized after Lanier SpeedFest as their next event on their traditional schedule is South Alabama Speedway’s Rattler 250, the first weekend of March.
