Remarkably, at the age of twenty-two, Casey Smith has seventeen years of racing experience under his belt.  Casey began racing in Quarter Midget competition on his fifth birthday outside his hometown of Austin, Texas.  Seven years later Casey won his first National Championship, the 1997 Grand National Title in Syracuse, New York in the Quarter Midget Heavy Alcohol Class.

Casey’s parents realized it was time to take the next step and they purchased a pair of Legends cars.  In two full seasons of Legends, Smith earned 58 wins, 66 top-five, and 91 top-ten finishes, and the 1999 B.F. Goodrich National Points Championship in the Semi-Pro Division.  Smith became a very popular driver to all the fans that visited Texas Motor Speedway to watch the Thursday night races.

In October 2000, Casey climbed back into his Legends Car at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the 2000 Asphalt National “Pro Division” Championship Race.  In winning that race, Casey captured his third national title.

When Casey and his family realized that racing was going to be a major part of their lives, they built a race shop on their property behind their Austin home where Casey would spend most of his time building and preparing his own racecars.  Casey lends most of his success on the track to the knowledge and experience he has gained off the track.

Upon graduating from high school in May of 2003, Casey began working full-time on his racecars and working towards his dream of getting to the premier NASCAR series.  The most evident difference that sets Smith apart from other drivers his age is the commitment, work ethic and heart he pours into it.  Smith never had the advantage of having funding from a corporate sponsor or car owner, he had to work with what his family could afford.  He compensated by working hard and learning everything he could about the cars, then proving his talent on the track.

Today, Casey continues to set his sights high.  While looking at different options for his future, he is behind the wheel as much as possible.
